How it works.

Scene lists and thumbnails tell visitors what exists, not where it is. Walk Navigation draws an arrow on the floor toward every neighbouring scene, so the way through the building is part of the panorama. A click walks there in 3D and arrives facing the direction the visitor walked. The arrows are built from the positions you already have — the spots of our Floor Plan, or the same three numbers in your own XML element — and every setting is an attribute of one XML element.

Installation.

  1. 1

    Copy one folder

Put the encrypted plugin folder into your tour and add one layer element to your tour XML.

  2. 2

    Say where the scenes are

Use the spots of our Floor Plan, or write one spot element per scene with its position on the plan and its heading.

  3. 3

    Correct only what is wrong

Optional link elements hide a way, aim it by hand, move an arrow closer or give it a name.

Why it makes a difference.

The way is in the panorama

Arrows lie on the floor where the door or the corridor is, so visitors walk the building instead of picking scenes from a list.

Arrive facing ahead

The new scene faces exactly the direction the visitor walked, so nobody has to find their bearings again after every step.

No second data entry

The arrows are computed from the plan positions of our Floor Plan, or from three numbers per scene in your own XML.

Settings.

Set as attributes in your tour XML.

SettingTypeDefaultDescription
active Yes / NotrueSwitches the arrows on or off at runtime (default true).
spot_scale Number0Centimetres per unit of your spot positions, for example 2 for a plan image at 2 cm per pixel (0–1000, default 0). Without it there are no distances in the labels and no link_radius.
link_max Number4Largest number of arrows in one scene (1–8, default 4).
link_radius Number0Largest distance of an automatic link in centimetres (0–100000, default 0 = no limit); needs spot_scale.
link_angle Number25Smallest angle between two arrows in degrees; a scene behind a nearer one is dropped (0–90, default 25).
arrow_distance Number250Distance of the arrows from the camera on the floor in centimetres (120–600, default 250). A single arrow can be moved with the distance of its link element.
arrow_size Number60Size of an arrow on the floor in centimetres (20–200, default 60); ×1.3 on touch devices and in VR.
eye_height Number160Height of the camera above the floor in centimetres (50–400, default 160).
arrow_color Color#FFFFFFColour of the arrows (default #FFFFFF); ignored with your own arrow_url image.
accent_color Color#3D8BFFColour of the arrow under the mouse or the gaze (default #3D8BFF).
arrow_url Text—Your own arrow image (PNG, JPG or WebP) with the tip pointing up; empty uses the built-in chevron.
labels Listautoauto (default) shows the label under the mouse, and on touch and in VR the label of the arrow nearest the middle of the view; always shows every label; off shows none. autoalwaysoff
walk Listturnturn (default) turns toward the arrow and then walks through the room in 3D; blend cross-fades into the new scene facing the walking direction. turnblend
walk_time Number1Length of the walk or of the cross-fade in seconds (0.3–3, default 1).
turn_time Number0.4Length of the turn toward the arrow before the walk in seconds (0–1.5, default 0.4); 0 walks at once.
motion_blur Number0.4Motion blur of the 3D walk (0–0.9, default 0.4).
vr_walk ListturnWalk mode in VR: turn (default) is the same 3D walk as on screen; blend cross-fades instead. turnblend
vr_dwell Yes / NotrueLooking at an arrow in VR activates it after about two seconds, through the krpano WebVR plugin (default true); false leaves the controller or the screen tap.
walk_other Yes / NotrueAlso walk when another z360 plugin — for example Floor Plan or Tour Navigator — opens a scene an arrow leads to (default true).
transition Yes / NotrueFades and scales the arrows and labels; false changes them at once. Visitors who turned on reduced motion never get the motion, and their scene change is always a cross-fade.
transition_duration Number250Length of these transitions in milliseconds (100–1000, default 250).
calibrate Yes / NofalseCreator mode: a bar with the links of the current scene that measures an aimed direction and prints the finished link line; never leave it on in a published tour (default false).
debug Yes / NofalsePrints the number of spots and links and the direction, arrival and distance of every link to the browser console (default false).
text_label Text{title} · {distance}The label text (default “{title} · {distance}”); {title} is the scene name, {distance} the distance in metres, shown only with spot_scale. A <languages> key or literal text.
